Evaluation The Nitrous is Sauconys answer to the Asics 1000 series a good-value stability shoe for runners who dont want or need the extra plushness that begins at £70. Its good news for mild overpronators who love the soft Saucony feel but have been frustrated by the companys lack of midprice stability models. Its smooth and light, with a flowing heel-to-toe transition that can help to make a run feel effortless. If you want more of a performance feel, a slightly firmer shoe with a lower-to-the-ground feel (such as the
Asics Gel 1070) would be worth trying (a lower, firmer shoe would also be more stable). As it is, though, the instant comfort of the GRID Nitrous should win it a good following and you can certainly improve the rearfoot stability by replacing the thick, pillowy insole with a normal one.
In short Sauconys range has lacked a value-oriented stability shoe for a couple of years. The GRID Nitrous should please mild overpronators who like the soft Saucony feel.
Try it if you liked Saucony GRID Wired (£60, discontinued);
