5 APR 2009: PARIS MARATHON

Slideshow

The Paris Marathon is one of the oldest of the big city marathons and pre-dates London by 4 years - equalling London in its size - with 35,000 runners each year.

The course has changed several times since its inception, but the route for the last 10 years or so is now well established and is an essential sightseeing tour of the city; starting on the Champs Elysees and running down the wide Boulevard to Place du Concorde, past the Louvre and out to the east of the city. It then joins the banks of the River Seine and returns past Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower on the way to the finish at the Arc de Triomphe on Avenue Foch.

The race sold out in December last year but we can offer guaranteed places in conjunction with our tour packages up to 31st January.

Medical Certificate

All participants in sports events in France must supply a medical certificate with their race entry. This should take the form of a letter on your family doctors letter head with the following statement:

"I, the undersigned Dr, Dr of medicine, certify that the examination of [runners name] reveals no contraindications for participating in running competitions".

This should be signed and dated by your doctor.

There is also an International Breakfast run on the saturday morning.

Why not train for the Paris Marathon on the Runner's World Algarve Spring Training week.
