It was all go in Stewarton for the 2013 British Time Trial championships yesterday, June 20th.

Despite crashing, Movistar rider Alex Dowsett retained his British TT title, whilst Wiggle Honda rider Joanna Rowsell took her first ever win in the ladies event.

Last out the gate, an early crash caused by a detatched tubular tyre saw Dowsett having to grin and bare it on his second bike, yet the man from Essex managed to hold on and take the win 21 seconds ahead of second place Bottrill.

Matt Bottrill, racing for drag2zero, put in the ride of his career to take second place ahead of Sky's Ben Swift.

In the women's race, Joanna Rowsell defeated Lizzie Armitstead to claim the women's title for the first time, adding to her Olympic gold medals and other numerous accolades.

Her time of 49 minutes 25 seconds put her 32 seconds clear of Armitstead, who in turn had over one minute over Katie Colclough in third.
