The two bikes below show the difference between (a) road and (b) tri/time-trial bikes. On the tri bike the angle of the seatpost brings the rider's hips further forward and upright, tipping the body into a more aerodynamic position thus reducing drag - a considerable advantage on long, flat bike courses
