"Trainers should be replaced after 500-600 miles, depending on how heavily you run. Lightweight shoes will wear out quicker because of the thinner midsoles. We advise buying a second pair so you can alternate your runs in them and prolong the life of both pairs.

"To keep them clean, give your shoes some treatment with a brush and some washing-up liquid. If they get wet, stuff them with newspaper to dry them, rather than exposing them to too much dry heat."
