Mizuno have just released the latest edition to the Wave Rider running shoe, the Mizuno Wave Rider 16. The updated shoe has maintained the level of cushioning of previous versions and introduced a new ‘Smooth Ride’ material a shock-absorbing cushioning compound found in the midsole’s rearfoot, which the brand says is even lighter and more responsive than the VS-1 used in its predecessor. The new material means they’re lighter too, dropping from 310g to 280g in the men's, and down to 245g in the women's.
How did they perform out on the road? Just as they say on the tin: on a 16-mile road test, they felt noticeably lightweight and stayed cool throughout.
Other design tweaks include the shoe’s ‘Dynamotion Fit’ featuring strategically placed inner panels to give you a more secure fit, plus lighter material selections in the upper for an even lighter shoe.
