110% Juggler Knickers, £110
Alison says: If, like me, you’re way too wimpy to plunge tired limbs into an ice bath after training, this new range of compression kit from 110% offers a great alternative.
These wonderfully named Juggler Knickers come with six sheets that you soak in water then freeze. After a run, grab the ice packs from the freezer (or if you’re out and about from the insulated pouch that keeps the ice frozen for up to six hours) and shove them into the pockets to help key muscle groups – quads, glutes, hamstrings and iliotibial band – recover faster.
I wore the tights for the recent Cambridge Half (great new race, by the way) and found them to be comfortable and way more supportive than ‘regular’ ¾ tights. That support is thanks to the graduated medical-grade compression fabric, which is tighter at the bottom than the top to promote improved circulation. After the race I popped the icepacks in the pockets (which are all over the tights) for the drive back to London and can report that my legs felt great the next day.
Olympic cyclist Rebecca Romero is a fan too and told me (at the recent UK launch) that she likes to microwave the packs too – useful if you have a niggle that might respond better to heat than ice. Shorts, knee sleeves and calf sleeves are also available and start at £55 for the calf sleeves.
