Gear Pick of the Week: Fujifilm FinePix XP150

Fujifilm FinePix XP150

Fujifilm FinePix XP150 (£219)

James says: Looking for something to take to your next race that can be thrown in your kit bag along with your wet suit? This is one gadget that should be on your kit list. The very impressive Fujifilm XP150 is a waterproof, shockproof, freeze-proof and dust-proof compact digital camera that’s as at home underwater as it is in the snow.

Not only does it boast a robust case it also has a nifty GPS system. Simply take a snap and it will locate you position on the map. I took this to the desert (on my recent Marathon des Sables challenge) to give it a real going over. Aside from the weight, it faired impeccably. I felt confident throwing it in the bag during the runs and when it came down to the snaps it was both easy to use and gave pleasing results.

The fact it’s waterproof also enables use in the British summer time, safe in the knowledge you can capture the fleeting moments of sunshine followed by the wind rain and hail that we are accustomed to, without the XP150 having any issues. And if you're training or racing in stunning locations, it's always good to have a few snaps to bring back those memories.
