Hello all
We would love to run a lightning-quick pre-launch test of the forum part of the new site this morning, for anyone who has time to have a look. (We know, we know, we wanted this to be a week-long process, covering the whole site, but...)
We’re playing it safe and not messing with the way the forum works (at the moment) – but we still want to make sure it still looks fine for all of you in its new skin, in the browsers you’re using. We’re still working through a few last tidy-ups, mainly on IE6 and to a lesser extend IE8, but please do tell us what you see anyway.
We’d love your feedback about the rest of the site later today (we're aware there are still quite a few gaps on the test site that won't be filled until after the downtime) but for now we’ll only be reading the forum bits (and please forgive us if we don’t respond in person straight away...).
The main things we want to know, please, are
-- does it look wonky and/or is anything missing (if so, which browser are you using (eg Firefox 3.0 on PC), and do you have any special settings (eg are you on a locked-down work system).
-- can you still post messages ok?
You have to log on to the beta site in a slightly roundabout way, using your normal login details. First, go to this page..
http://rw.magicalia.com/members/logon.aspx
When you first submit your details, nothing will happen, but then click the main logo and your nickname should appear in the top right and you will be logged in. Messages you post on the beta site will also appear on this site (and the new site) so feel free to make yourselves at home.
Thanks in advance for your help - we have done lots of testing (honest) but there’s no substitute for real life...
Catherine
PS If your layout looks wrong or components of the page are missing, the most common reason is that your browser is caching (storing) old elements of the page. To refresh these, press shift-F5 or shift-refresh on a PC; or Apple-shift-R (Firefox) or apple-option-E (Safari) on a Mac.
