Crossing the finish line was brilliant, at six weeks post op from Back surgery.
This was my 8th London marathon for United Response. Having spent a month in hospital from mid-February to mid-March, and having had back surgery at the beginning of March, I was waiting until the beginning of April before committing myself to this one.
However, I felt absolutely fantastic, and when the day arrived, I felt a euphoric feeling, and managed a steady pace during the first half. The going was slightly tougher when I reached mile 17, however, both strong will, determination, fantastic crowds and family support right through to the end helped me to a most fantastic achievement, and crossing the finish line felt fantastic and euphoric.
This is my 18th full marathon, and I'm looking forward to the next one.
