I feel for you cos I had the same trouble for years, being around the same height and weight as you. I'm now around 9 stone and a size 10. It took me 2 years to get to this and the solution for me was to weight train as well as run. Over a 10-day shift-cycle, I train 5 days, and I've upped my muscle and also my basal metabolism. Being a pear shape I have to train light weights/high reps for lower body, then really heavy weights/around 8 reps, 6 sets for each body part upper body. No I don't look like Arnie, that's impossible for my body type! I've developed a toned physique, a la Madonna, and for the first time in my life, at 36 years old, I'm happy with it. Oh, and 1 more thing, try keeping a food diary, electronic, eg excel, is easier. Good luck to you girl!

You don't say what sort of calories you're taking in each day - it could either be too many, or maybe not enough which is ruining your metabolism. I find the weight came off best by taking in about 200 cals less per day that I burn off, slow but worth it. Also, are you eating little and often - 6 little meals a day is great for your metabolism which rises every time you eat. Finally, not sure if you're doing it, but weight train a couple of times per week. Putting on a little lean mass will up your metabolism and you'll burn off more when you're sitting/sleeping etc. Sit ups etc will tone up your tummy muscles, but you need to burn a little fat to show them all off. Good luck, it's really tough, I know, I've been there, but you can do it!!!
