This is the first year I've ran the Hampshire Hoppit trail marathon. I've trained out along some of the routes so knew what to expect in terms of hills and beautiful scenery. When the hot weather hit I knew it was going to be a tough day, I reduced my expectations, opted for a hat and to carry water as advised by the organisers and I prepared myself to run sensibly and enjoy the atmosphere. And what an atmosphere it was. Lots of conversation between runners, huge encouragement by the marshals, superb aid station staff who just took one look at my sweaty face and topped up my water bottle for me No questions asked. I did struggle in the heat but I felt completely motivated by everyone around me to finish and get my medal and pint glass.  The organisation on the day was superb, I felt welcomed and looked after from start to finish and I went home tired but extremely proud.  The Hampshire Hoppit is an incredibly friendly race on and off the course. I knew from the outset that I was in for a challenging run - the race and the organisers pride themselves on that! If I wanted a time I'd run on the road - this was a totally different experience and I felt as Runners we were all in it together.  I was promised beautiful scenery, a friendly welcome  and a pint as a reward and the Hampshire Hoppit delivered!  Well done and thank you! I'll be back

This is a great well run, friendly race. It was such a hot day the organisers & volunteers went out of their way to set up ad hoc exwater stations even using their own carboots on the day and provide extra support when needed. Very impressed yet again.

My second year running the Hampshire Hoppit. Beautiful course with glorious views, well stocked aid stations, and extremely helpful marshals. This year the conditions were even more challenging given the heat but the locals were out in force with extra water, ice pops and hose pipes. There is a steep hill at the start but then the course is undulating and flowing. This is a lovely, inclusive, friendly run. I would definitely recommend it - especially as there is a pint of the local brew in an engraved glass waiting for you at the finish.

A fantastic event. The organisation was superb, the scenery beautiful, and the participants friendly and welcoming. But, it is hilly and is definitely a tough marathon and in 2017 it was exceptionally hot, so "brutal" was the most common adjective I heard used!

Well organised race in beautiful countryside. Course is challenging but not silly hard and mixes different terrain quite well, including some short spells on quiet country roads. Support for the marathon in 2017 was amazing - people all along the whole 26 mile course cheering you on, including absolutely brilliant marshals. Only downside is the long (20 minutes) walk from the car to the start - a long way if you have young children who have come to watch the start and finish of the race.

I had a great time, thanks so much to all the organisers and especially the marshals out on the course, they must have melted by the end! I will definitely be signing up again for 2018 :-)

Lots of conversation between runners, huge encouragement by the marshals, superb aid station staff who just took one look at my sweaty face and topped up my water bottle for me no questions asked and offered me lots of race snack treats. I was even given two ice pops on unofficial aid stops along the way which tasted out of this world! This was just one example of the marshals going above and beyond for the benefit of the runners. I did struggle in the heat but I felt completely motivated by everyone around me to finish and get my medal, pint glass and beer, which I was able to top up with lemonade as the organisers had thought of that too! The organisation on the day was superb, I felt welcomed and looked after from start to finish and I went home tired but extremely proud.  The Hampshire Hoppit is an incredibly friendly race on and off the course. Well done and thank you! I'll be back.

Absolutely brilliant event - and I will be definitely recommending it to other runners. Fantastic organization - with additional assistance on a very hot day; regular fb updates; detailed final instructions; GREAT goody bag - to be honest I only signed up because of the engraved glass and I don't event drink ;-), plenty of parking, NO queues for the loos (first ever!!!!) - and amazing atmosphere on the day! personal worst for me on the day - but I will be coming back for more.
