Not as good as it used to be I've run this race several times, though this was my first one with the two lap format. With no phasing at the start nor segregation for the fast runners on their second lap, I imagine it was a little frustrating for those up front! However, that's never something I need to worry about but I did feel sorry for the faster runners having to weave through the slower ones.

A delayed start meant we were even closer to lunchtime when we started (11am), which I always think is late for a 10k when the sun is pretty much overhead. The water was later in the course than indicated on the instructions (and under volunteered, though not their fault we had to queue!), so I wish I'd trusted my instincts and taken my own.

It's a little thing, but I was surprised that there was no clock at the finish line. Yes, it's a chipped race but results aren't delivered until the next day and I don't even have a gun time to work with. I was aiming for a course best and having visibility of my time as I came down the last few yards could have made a difference!

I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned the marshall encouraging us a bit before the water, always appreciated! And I'm glad to hear that I didn't miss out by not getting a goodie bag. :-)

Needs Better organisation This is the first time I have completed this race with the new route. Where the 2 laps were would impede the leaders coming through as confirmed to me by a faster runner. Needs looking at. Marshall about 1k before water was really good. Lots of encouragement and good description of what was ahead. Water station was struggling a bit, but I did thank them on the second lap as they do their best. I think another runner(s) had criticised them. Runners - Do it after the event constructively not during the race. Runners with earphones need to be pulled aside and told to take them out. They are so inconsiderate as can't hear you when there are 3 abreast of them blocking faster runners and they can not then listen to the Marshalls. For those who say the goody bags had run out. The only extra thing the bag contained compared to what was being given out at the end was a copy of the Watford local paper. Collecting numbers on the day was a bit of a mess as there was "no" separate queue for collection and signing up on the day when I asked, however I must have asked the wrong person as there was meant to be 2 queues. However another runner and I organised the queues and it got better. Overall it is a large event to organise. I appreciate all the volunteers that helped. Maybe get a local running club involved for a bit of specialist help in return for a few free places? Hope you raised some good funds for local causes. Oh by the way runners, please think about your potential time before you stand at the front. Be realistic and get those head/earphones off.

Picturesque run, hillier than previous runs though Organisation could be better, need more marshals to ensure kids runs (esp 1k) were clearer, perhaps a pacer to lead them. Mistake delayed everything. Having said that kids were all happy especially with goodie bags!!

If I'm honest I prefer the old route for the 10k, it's not about the hills (well almost) but I'd rather not do a loop twice. Having said that it's local and I will be back!!

Good and bad! Disaster with the children's 1k!!! Not enough marshalls, children went the wrong way and therefore did a short distance and then were made to run again!!!! They loved the sweets filled goody bags though and did enjoy but even second time round as a parent wasn't sure where they were finishing and for both races the finish behind stalls compared to last year's sensible straight was disappointing. This delayed the 10k but I had seen the info about closed roads so we were ok on that front.

Adult race hilly but good course. Ran out of goody bags (I should have been quicker!) overall pleased with numbers sent out before the day but definitely lacking in marshalls and a return to last year's finish so it can be seen for all races suggested. 1k could also have been taped to stop spectators crossing and help runners know where they were going.

Potentially a great local family race which I hope can be improved next year.

Could have been better organised! Road leading to the park was blocked, no pre-warning! Parked on a road called 'The Chase'. How spooky was that! Race started 15 min late, no goody bag at the end (run out!). Would I do it again? NO!!

A fun, lumpy off-road 2 lap course Easy to get to from the main town centre about 25 minute walk. Plenty of facilities on-site, refreshments, toilets etc, baggage drop and number collection. Set in lovely location, wouldn't think you were on the edge of a town. Expected a undulating course and knew it wouldn't be PB material but still a great 10km course to do. Passing through some gorgeous woodland, on a hot day it was nice to be in the shade. I imagine if this route is used on a wet day it could get really fun as some nice short descents and ascents.

OMG, was this hilly or what!! Slightly different route from the one I did a couple of years ago. Were the hills tougher or had I just blocked them from my memory?! That said, there was certainly great support from people out on the course and also spectators lining the way to the finish line within the park. Signs were clear, easy baggage storage and reclaim, and plenty of room in the lovely Cassiobury Park for warming up/stretching etc. Results were up by the end of the day.

Back to the woods The new start/finish location in the lower part of Cassiobury Park worked quite well. More toilets this year, which was nice as TfL had left the gents at Watford tube locked. Great atmosphere, it looked as though numbers were up this year.

It was nicer going back into the woods rather than just going around the park and canal as per last year. However, it might be worth looking doing just one longer loop rather rather than the two laps, it was quite hard to keep out of the way of faster runners (I wasn't wearing headphones, so could hear them). A bit hillier than you'd expect. Well worth doing though.

Really enjoyable race, great scenery, atmosphere and excellent organisation. My only gripe is the two lap route means spending most of the second lap weaving between slower runners. It would be good if instructions to stick to one side were given.

Hillier than last year but more scenic! Third time I have run this race and really enjoyed it this year. The new route was scenic, running through the bluebell woods. Was good to get some shade on quite a warm morning. I hadn't realised quite how hilly it would be though so had to rethink my PB attempt early on! The distance seemed to be more accurately measured this year. The race was well organised, with a good atmosphere so will be back next year. The two laps thing was a bit of a pain in the 2nd loop as some of the slower runners were doing their 1st lap and were often walking and chatting four abreast with headphones on, so didn't think to move to the side to let people pass.
