Thames Valley Orienteering Club invites you to try an off-trail run with a difference - a physical workout with an added mental challenge! It’s a race with no set route - try orienteering.
There’ll be several courses, up to 5k, and no experience is necessary. You’ll receive a special orienteering map showing your course, consisting of a series of checkpoints. At each point around the common and woods, you’ll find a marker flag and timing unit. The challenge is to race between the checkpoints, using your map to choose your route between them and registering them with a timing chip we'll lend you (hey, we need to know you’ve visited them!). When you return to the finish, your timing chip will be downloaded and you’ll receive a print out of your times. Great fun!
Not only that, but it’s a great family activity too - as we’ll have shorter courses for children and families. Just come along any time from 10am to 11.30am and you can start a course any time up to midday. Why not give it a go - just don't forget your sense of adventure!
Entry on the day fees: £6 for solo adults and groups sharing one map (total); £2 solo juniors. Includes a special waterproof map to keep, hire of a timing chip, and print out of results and splits at the finish.
Parking is near the windmill on Brill Common.
