The Cumbria Way Ultra is a 73 mile trail ultra race which passes through the varied terrain of the beautiful Lake District, giving over 10,000 feet of ascent. The event is open to solo runners and relay teams of 2 or 5. The relay legs are - teams of 2; 43 and 30 miles and teams of 5; 15, 13, 15, 15 and 15 miles.
The Cumbria Way Ultra 2017 will give Solo runners 3 old and 5 new points for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc®
There will be with 5 Checkpoints supplying drinks, snacks and kind words. The checkpoints will be located at Coniston Sports and Social Club, Sticklebarn Tavern in the Langdales, Crosthwaite Parish Room, Keswick, Caldbeck Parish Hall and Dalston.
The event finishes at the iconic Carlisle Castle where there are bunks available to hire.
The runners will be supplied with a detailed written description of the route in the Route Notes which will be printed on waterproof paper. The route notes and gpx file of the route will be available to download.
Due to the nature of the race we advise that solo and relay teams of 2 runners are experienced marathon and ultra distance runners with some basic navigation skills. Relay teams of 5 runners should be experienced trail runners who have completed up to half marathon distance with some basic navigation skills.
