Aspire Running Events are very pleased to announce a further inaugural event the Walcot Whopper 10k(ish!), which will be held on the morning of Saturday 24th March 2018.
We will also be having a 1k (all ages and abilities) fun run and our usual free 5 and under’s 50m dash.
Sadly, this event is NOT Canicross friendly.
Course description: Hilly/Undulating – 1 loop.
Course: You will head out of the Rugby club, joining the adjacent Lansdown playing fields before heading down a valley towards the beautiful village of Langridge and traversing its stunning Wildlife Trail. You will then climb up stony tracks and join the breath-taking Cotswold Way. From then on you will then head back to the rugby club using open countryside and farmland trails.
We will be strongly advising trail shoes for this one, it’s in March after all and we are guessing it’ll be the usual Aspire muddy winter race.
Location postcode: BA1 9BJ
For the duration of this event we are thrilled to have secured the facilities of the Walcot Rugby Club. Hot/cold drinks will be available to purchase pre-race for runners/spectators alike. The Rugby Club will also be open post-race for Cider and everyone’s favourite Bacon butties.
Also, being served will be the locally well-known Walcot Whopper burger which this race has been named after! We have been reliably informed that this is a must have… So please do bring extra pennies on the day!

Wave 2 – Middle – 10:05am
Wave 3 – Late – 10:10am
10k - £17 Unaffiliated/ £15 Affiliated – (Minimum age limit: 15 years +)

***Due to the ever-growing popularity of the 1k and 50m races which sell out at every event, we have decided to introduce a fair rule policy.
Therefore, children can enter either the 1k or 50m dash BUT not enter both at the same event.
We wish as many little ones as possible to gain a race experience and therefore receive a medal at the end of it and we think the above is fair to all.***
Registration will open at 8:45am and close at 9:50am and will be held inside the Rugby Club.
The route will be fully marked out with eco – friendly washable paint arrows, orange marker flags and multi directional run route signs where required.
All finishers (including the 50m dash) will receive a medal.
The 10k race will be timed.
The following trophies will be awarded:
1st, 2nd & 3rd overall male and female
1st Senior male and female
1st MV40 & FV40
1st MV50 & FV50
1st MV60+ & FV60+
1st male and female U20
First Aid will be in attendance and will be placed at suitable positions throughout the course.
The whole route will be fully marshalled.
There will be a suitably placed half way point water/feed station.
The finishers table will be laden with our usual treats and fruit.
There will be free parking available on the day, however this is limited so please do consider car sharing for this event. However, the Park & Ride is directly opposite.
