Find deep release
Feel like you’re running too much. Can’t touch your toes? We can help you addressing the most common problems for runners (tight hips and hamstrings and ITBS). The health of hips and hamstrings is also critical to the well-being of the spine and lower limbs and often knee and lower back injuries can be improved and corrected by releasing tensions in these areas.
We start with a strong, flowing class focusing on lengthening hamstrings, ITB stretches and core strength.
To lighten things up we will rest a bit while we cover the theory of stretching (What happens when we do it? What is holding us back?), and how this benefits other parts of the body, e.g. prevention of low back pain. What to do when you're injured and how to prevent some common injuries like calf strain or plantar fasciitis.
This will be followed by an asana sequence and some long held postures to open the hips and increase spinal flexibility (a compressed spine is often a result of an intensive running regime).
The workshop will include ideas and examples of asanas you can easily and safely practice at home.
