The 2019 New York City Marathon will take place on Sunday 3 November 2019.

When will the ballot open for the 2019 NYC Marathon? 

The ballot for the New York City Marathon opens on 14 January 2019 to 14 February 2019. If your name is picked, it’s a guaranteed entry to run in the 2019 New York Marathon, but like many other race ballots, this can be tricky. For the 2017 New York City Marathon, 98,247 runners applied to the ballot, 16,211 were accepted.

What is the 9+1 programme?

It seems next to impossible that you would have gone through these lengths without knowing it would get you a guaranteed entry into the 2019 New York City Marathon, but thanks to the NYRR’s 9+1 programme, NYRR members who have finished nine or more NYRR races, volunteered at at least one this year and who were NYRR members before 31 December 2018, are automatically admitted into the marathon.

How do I get a good for age guaranteed spot at the New York City Marathon?

There’s a limited number of race entries to runners who have met certain time standards in non NYRR races. If you have run in America this year, the following races are eligible for guaranteed entry, depending on your time: 2018 NYRR Fred Lebow Manhattan Half, 2018 United Airlines NYC Half, 2018 SHAPE Women's Half-Marathon, 2018 Popular Brooklyn Half, 2018 NYRR Staten Island Half, and 2018 TCS New York City Marathon.
