I walked for a year, then ran for year, then fulfilled a promise I thought I would never achieve! Mr Bingham...thank you!!!
What was the best moment (excluding the finish)? Seeing my friends and family at mile 25 and realising that I was going to finish the longest run I've ever done!
And the worst moment? Suddenly experiencing unprecedented limb pain at mile 15!
The biggest surprise? Or the most memorable moment? Turning the corner leading up to Tower Bridge and hearing the crowd cheer. It was like performing at Wembley (well what I imagine it would be like)!
What was your goal? And what was your finishing time? Finish by teatime and before the finish line shuts. 4 hours 57 mins and 4 seconds.
What would you do differently? And indeed what was the key to your success? Start training in December. Try not to get a chest infection and miss 2 weeks of training. Strengthen my legs. Success...realising that there was no way I was not going to finish it so might as well aim to finish it relatively pain free and with a smile on the face. I felt pain but I ran with a smile the whole way round!!!
How will you be celebrating? A meal at Fifteen with friends and family. And a much missed G&T!
