Guinness World Records have announced more than 100 runners will be hoping to smash records at this Sunday’s Virgin London Marathon.
The records range from slightly mad to completely off-the-scale. Here are a few of the wackiest attempts to watch out for if you’re spectating - or to aim not be overtaken by!
Fastest Marathon Hula Hooping: Sasha Kenny from Wrexham aims to beat the six-hour record and is hoping to raise over £2,000 for the NSPCC.
Tallest Costume to Complete a Marathon: Builder David Lawrenson from Garstang will don the tallest costume yet - a 24ft (7.3m) model of the Blackpool Tower. He is hoping to raise over £5,000 for SCOPE.
Fastest Marathon in a Wedding Dress: It’s a bridezilla battle between 43-year-old Naomi Garrick and 30-year-old Claire Pearse to beat the current women’s record of 4:11. Richard Bazeley will also be putting on a dress to take on the men’s title.
