Weekend of running: 13th & 14th July

It was a scorcher of a weekend, with temperatures topping 30 degrees, so unless you were partaking in midnight runs, racing conditions were less than ideal. But still, it was an active weekend in the running calendar so well done to all of you who got out there.

We’ve picked some of our favourite pictures from the weekend’s activities. So check out the highlights. The Color Run at Wembley Park had its debut year and it looked pretty spectacular.

I was amongst part of the Runner’s World Tiger Balm team taking on The British 10K yesterday. The race started late and queuing alongside thousands of other runners with no real direction made for a chaotic beginning. More signs and marshals would be appreciated next year. However once we got going the vibe was good and spirits high – however crowding on the course make a PB a near impossible feat. On a personal note, the sweltering sun and a classic error of going out too fast made it the toughest race I’ve done and the last few kilometers became quite a mental battle.

Let us know how you got on racing this weekend and stay hydrated as the heat continues.

Loui Downing "Here's me knocking 3mins of a PB for 4miles (26.15min) at Cheadle 4 this weekend. Very hot but can't grumble - even got a nice mobot in too."

Hollie Bottrill "Just saw your tweet and thought I would send a pic of my quick 'pit stop' whilst on a run in Antalya, Turkey on Saturday."

Lana Hornigold, "My weekend running involved the British 10k. Waiting official time, but so happy after running in such scorching heat and pretty sure I beat 55mins."

Katie Brough, "I have just returned to the sport after 8 years "retirement" to have a family. Only really my first track season back and I finished 3rd today at the Sainsburys British Championships. I also finished 1st in England too....so can now say I am England champion! (5000m)."
