It’s a sport that’s free on paper, but you only need to upgrade your trainers or train for a marathon to realise that with running, the gear is anything but. This week, supermarket giant Lidl launch their latest low-cost running range, with a range of products costing less than a tenner.
Lidl's trendy looking apparel features both men’s and women’s tops, tights and jackets, specially designed running socks for £2.99, high performance sports bras for £5.99 and a lightweight running backpack for £6.99.
According to the supermarket, their £14.99 trainers are marathon-worthy, whilst being a tenth of the price of some of the other high-end options available. Lidl states the trainers are made with ‘shock-absorbing Phylon technology, EVA insoles for improved cushioning and durable sole for outstanding grip, flexibility and traction.’
Other practical items designed with the forthcoming London marathon in mind include Lidl running insoles for £3.99, kinesiology tape for £7.99 and a hot/cold compress set for £3.49. The supermarket has also developed Bluetooth headphones, which they claim to be comparable with others on the market that ‘offer the same battery life as Lidl’s pair but at more than eight times the cost.’
The limited-edition collection will be available in stores from 15th March.
