Evaluation While soft, easy-riding shoes elicit a love-it or hate-it response, Nikes super-cushy Air Pegasus has certainly been turning on the charm with plenty of runners over the last year. The Storm Pegasus is the winterised version, with a water-resistant upper and a studded outsole.
Its fine on dry pavement a very similar fit and smooth ride to the original Pegasus but its at its best off-road. Like many lugged outsoles, the deeper version of Nikes waffle outsole can slip on wet pavement, but it grips splendidly in mud. The midsole has also been firmed up slightly for the trails, where you dont need as much cushioning, but you do need a good feel for the ground. Its still pretty soft though, and therefore not stable enough for really uneven ground.
And the water-resistant upper? Its perhaps too warm in mild conditions, but it certainly keeps the feet dry and toasty in grim weather.
In short This is the Range Rover Air Pegasus, with extra grip and water-resistance for off-road running. Its cushioning has been tweaked for the trails, but its kept its likeable fit and feel.
