The X-A Pro GTX is a Gore-Tex version of the X-A Pro
, which was launched in the spring. The posted midsole is quite firm with a rigid forefoot. In fact, the whole shoe feels quite stiff compared with the off-road models from the big manufacturers. The key to the shoe is the Gore-Tex upper, which has all the advantages and flaws of other fully waterproof, breathable uppers. They are fine when running through wet grass or if there is moisture in the air, but a disaster if the water comes over the top of the shoe – as it would do if you ran through a stream – because the shoe holds the water rather than releasing it.
