ASICS Target 26.2 2013 Terms & Conditions

  1. This promotion is open to UK mainland residents only*, who are 18 or above.  Entry is not open to employees of ASICS UK Ltd, ASICS Corp., Hearst-Rodale, their subsidiaries or anyone professionally connected with this promotion or their immediate families.
  2. The closing date for entries is midday November 9 2012.
  3. There are 5 (five) prizes to be won. Each prize comprises of; an entry place in the Event (if needed), entry to one of a selection of ASICS half-marathons before the Event (including standard class travel** - for clarification please email; personalised coaching from either Steve Smythe or Sam Murphy; travel to London plus 3 (three) sets of ASICS Target 26.2 kit chosen on a shopping day on Sunday 16 December, comprising head-to-toe ASICS running kit and trainers; a Garmin Forerunner 210 GPS watch; accommodation in a Paris hotel for the night before the Event; travel to and from Paris (standard class travel and reasonable expenses only** - for clarification please email; hospitality before and after the Event; a year's subscription to Runner's World magazine; a Bupa Fitness Assessment, two training days and personal advice and tips from the ASICS PRO Team.
  4. To enter log onto (the "Website"), fill in a structured questionnaire and upload a photo of yourself.  From all entries received before the closing date, we will select 30 to 50 longlisted candidates. We may call you for a quick phone interview prior to selecting the longlist. If you are longlisted, you will be contacted by telephone shortly after the closing date. Longlisted candidates will be invited to attend a Boot Camp selection day in Birmingham on November 30 2012, from which a shortlist of 18-24 runners will be chosen. Details of all shortlisted candidates will then be published on and the RW community invited to vote for their favourite five. The vote results will be taken into account along with the opinions of the Runner's World and ASICS team, coaches and the ASICS PRO Team when deciding the winners.
  5. All Boot Camp attendees will receive an ASICS goody bag and a copy of the Runner's World Complete Guide to Running (RRP £9.99).
  6. To be eligible to win one of the five prizes you must agree to write a frequent blog/forum posts on the Website for the four months leading up to and including the ASICS Paris Marathon (the "Event"). This blog would need to contain details on how your training is progressing and it may also contain photos. All photographs must have been taken by you and you must have obtained the permission of all persons in the photographs for their image to be published. The blog will be completely interactive so that others can respond with feedback.
  7. You will need to be available for a day in Birmingham on November 30 2012 to meet coaches, the ASICS PRO Team and Runner's World staff.
  8. You will also need to be available for two training days in Birmingham on January 26 and March 2; and to attend one of a selection of ASICS UK half-marathons.
  9. By submitting any information onto the Website (including photographs), you agree to grant the promoters (ASICS UK Ltd) and Hearst-Rodale royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish the information (including photographs) in any form of media in perpetuity.  This means the promoters can reproduce the information (including photographs) however and wherever they want, but it also means that you can as well.  You will still own the copyright to everything you contribute. Where the promoters choose to use any of the information (including the photographs), they will credit the copyright to you.
  10. By entering this Promotion, each winner consents to any publicity generated as a result of this Promotion, and their name or image being used on websites, magazines or mobile services at any time.
  11. The longlisted and shortlisted candidates and winners will be selected by a panel of judges at their discretion. The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  12. The prize winners will be notified no later than Friday November 16 2012.
  13. All winners must sign an agreement regarding expectations and conduct during the project, along with Runner's World, ASICS and the coaches.
  14. No cash or alternative will be offered for the prize in whole or part. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize of the same or greater value.
  15. If selected as a member of the Target 26.2 2013 team the runners will agree to use the MyASICS tool as part of their training. Runners must own a Smartphone (iPhone or Android 2.2 and above).
  16. All runners must arrange their own medicals to get the necessary certificate for entry to Paris Marathon.
  17. Entries in the incorrect format will not be considered.  Entries cannot be returned. Only the longlisted candidates and winner/s will be contacted personally.
  18. Names of the winners available by sending a SAE to: ASICS UK Ltd, Westbrook, Warrington WA5 7YS.
  19. The promoter accepts no responsibility for late or lost entries.  Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
  20. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them. The promoter shall be permitted to exclude any entrant at any time at its sole discretion.
  21. Where Hearst-Rodale runs a competition with a promoter such that the promoter is responsible for the selection and/or the provision of prizes then Hearst-Rodale shall not be responsible for or have any liability for the provision of such prizes.

  23. Liability - To the extent permitted by the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, neither Runner's World nor its sponsors or suppliers will be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury whatsoever directly or indirectly occasioned by or resulting from the negligence, wrongful act or default of the "Marathon De Paris" / A.S.O. Athlétisme, its sponsors and suppliers or their respective servants or agents or from any other cause, including any act of God or the physical condition of the competitor.

* UK mainland is defined as including Scotland and Wales but excluding all areas listed in our definition of non UK mainland below. Non UK Mainland is defined as Northern Ireland, Isle of Man (IM), Channel Islands (GY and JE), Scilly Isles (TR21), Western Scottish Isles (HS1-8), Orkney Isles (KW 15-17), Shetland Isles (ZE) and postcodes KW1-3, KW5-14 and PH31-44.

** all travel is standard class, double rooms can be booked for partners in Paris only (not for Boot Camp or training days) but no expenses will be covered for partners at any point. All expenses must be approved by RW and ASICS before being made, and then claimed back within 3 months of expenditure. Receipts must be provided.
