IAAF prepared to ban Kenya from Olympics

IAAF president Lord Sebastian Coe has said he is prepared to ban Kenyan athletes from the Olympics, following a spike in positive drug tests among their leading performers.

"We know a disproportionate amount of reputational damage is caused by a relatively few countries," Lord Cow told BT Sport's The Claire Balding Show. "We have to be much more proactive."

"If it means pulling them out of world championships or Olympic Games then we will have to do that."

Kenya last week missed a World Anti-Doping Agency deadline to prove they were doing enough to tackle doping fears, meaning they may be declared a non-compliant nation and face a global ban. The chief executive of Athletics Kenya, Isaac Mwangi, has denied wrongdoing but asked to step down for 21 days following claims of bribery against the organisation.

Kenya dominated the podium at Beijing's 2015 World Championships with seven gold medals, but since 2011 over 40 of their athletes have failed doping tests.
