It's an exciting prospect to be writing a blog for Runner's World after contributing to various articles over the last few years, but the first thing to do is introduce myself properly.
Firstly, I am a runner and have been for a pretty long time. Beginning Little Athletics (it’s an Aussie thing) at the age of 11 and running competitively for more than 25 years on the track, roads, trails and cross country, I was lucky enough to represent Australia at the Oceania Games in the 1,500m and 5,000m - not quite the Olympics, but definitely a highlight in my life so far!
Running, and the injuries that came with it, led me into physiotherapy, and this career has allowed me to make running my professional focus for over 13 years.
As a running physio I have worked with thousands of runners and been involved with great events including six London Marathons and the AAAs Championships. Through our clinic - Move Physio - we also support local clubs and races such as the Fullers Tow Path 10, the Royal Parks Ultra and the new Ealing Half Marathon.
Working with great coaches naturally led to me to seeking my coaching qualifications and combining these two interests I established Move Physio in 2005. Move Running has evolved out of our running assessments, running technique coaching and athlete conditioning.
I now spend my days in the clinic treating injuries and assessing and teaching running technique as an effective way of preventing injury and helping people to run faster. I hope to do the same thing through this blog.
