Athletics fans will be excited to hear you can watch the England Athletics and British Athletics 10,000m Championships action unfold up close and personal this month.
On Saturday 21st May athletes will do battle to become British and English champion and secure places for the 10,000m at the Rio Olympic Games and you can be on the sidelines.
Held at the Parliament Hill Athletics track on Hampstead Heath in London, spectators will get to cheer on six 10,000m races and it’s completely free to come and watch.
Starting at 5pm, the elite men’s race kicks off at 8.15pm and the elite women’s race at 9pm. After the start gun goes off the cordon will be moved towards the inside lanes, giving the crowd a unique opportunity to cheer for your favourite athletes in person.
‘We’re delighted that the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBs will act as the 10,000m trial race for the Olympic Games,' said British Athletics Performance Director Neil Black.
'This event has established itself as the best 10,000m race in the country and is the perfect place for British athletes to test themselves over the distance. It is also a great opportunity for the public to see world class athletes up close for free and be part of a unique atmosphere.’
With music, food and a bar to keep the crowds in good spirits while the athletes do battle, the Night of the 10,000m PBs promises to be seriously speedy fun. Visit www.englandathletics.org for details.
