After trawling through all your applications, we’ve picked five worthy winners. Read on to find out more about the half-marathon challengers who’ll be using the My ASICS app and schedule to train for the BUPA Great North Run.

Target*: As close to 1:20 as possible.
Half-Marathon PB: 1:26:47
Current running: Several times a week, approximately 55 miles.
About me: I am an enthusiastic, passionate runner from the Yorkshire Dales who has been running consistently for more than two years. I now intend to focus on the half-marathon and I feel the 80-minute barrier is achievable within the next year.
Target*: Last year I did it in 1:59. I would like to beat this and run it in sub-1:55.
Half-Marathon PB: 1:53 (2011)
Current running: Three times per week
About me: I am running the GNR by myself this year and am determined to get a better time than last year. I track all of my runs and post them all on Facebook and Twitter to track my progress.
Target*: Sub-2:00 is my goal. I hope to achieve a new PB of 1:55.
Half-Marathon PB: 2:04
Current running: I currently run 5 times a week.
About me: When I broke my back ejecting from an aircraft I had to run as part of my rehab. It evolved from something I had to do to something I love doing. I could use the help and support, from ASICS to beat my half-marathon time and I hope my story can inspire others to run.
Half-Marathon PB: 2:03
Current running: I train 4-5 times a week, with one of those a long run.
About me: I dream of finally going under two hours for a half-marathon in my favourite race – and it’d be a wonderful 40th birthday present to myself. It might be my last chance with these ageing legs!
Target*: Now that I've completed some longer runs in training, I'm aiming for 2:10:00.
Half-Marathon PB: Not yet ran one
Current running: Three times a week
About me: In January I could barely jog for 17 minutes. Six months later with a plan of 'running further each week' and I've completed the 13.1 mile distance in training. I would be excited to see what I can achieve with professional advice, a proper training plan and quality kit!
