VLM: A record breaking day

The Virgin London Marathon is always one of the highlights of the global running calendar and yesterday’s race didn’t disappoint. Many PB’s were attempted, many achieved, some missed but regardless an eventful day was had by all with Guinness World Records announcing that it saw 22 records smashed.

From the weird - fastest internal organ, (Alan Blair dressed as a heart in 3:48:34) to the wonderful - fastest film character, (David Stone as Jack Sparrow ran an incredible 2:42 marathon), adjudicators witnessed 70 attempts at records but they didn’t all make the grade; bad luck to the two-man camel – the heavy humps in the sunshine must have proved a little too much. See the full list of broken records below. Our highlight has to be the longest knitted scarf worn whilst running the marathon (it was 2.05m). It just goes to show that if you think of something obscure enough and run 26.2 miles, just about anything is possible.
