As most runners await the ballot results for the London Marathon 2019 race, today the Virgin Money London Marathon team have announced the process for the British Athletics club entries allocation for the 2019 event.
Applications for club places to the 2019 London Marathon will open on Monday 5 November. The number of places allocated is based on the number of registered members over the age of 18 on this date.
How do the British Athletics Club Entries work?
The number of entries given to each club registered with British Athletics is based on the number of runners in the club. For clubs with less than 10 people, after the application deadline, they will be placed into a ballot where 20 clubs are drawn at random. Each will be allocated one place each.
For clubs with 151-250 registered members, two places will be allocated. Those with 251-350 registered members get three places, and those with 351 plus gain four places to the 2019 London Marathon.
In order to qualify, the running club must be associated with British Athletics through England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Welsh Athletics or Athletics Northern Ireland.
