Gear pick of the week: Berlei High Performance sports bra

This offering from Australian brand Berlei has just launched at Less Bounce and makes a refreshing change to the less aesthetically pleasing sports bras of yore. Backed by tennis superstar Serena Williams, the bra also performs well off the court, claiming to reduce breast bounce by up to 50%. The underwired design is an acquired taste, but features such as the padded straps and inner cup panels give added comfort should the bra suit your preferences.

Coming in sizes 32-40 and cups B-E it’s easy to get a personalised fit, although it’s worth noting that the cups come up a little on the small side. With the bra looking deceptively like regular lingerie, I was curious as to how it would fare on a run. As it turns out, remarkably well: I felt absolutely no movement and totally forgot I was wearing it – one of the biggest compliments you can pay a sports bra. With technical material in four designs ranging from block colours to leopard print along with the option for crossover straps to add more support, the Berlei High Performance bra makes a fine addition to any woman's runderwear drawer.
